Geoffrey Morgan

Geoffrey Morgan is the co-founder of Citigate, one of the world’s leading financial and corporate communications companies. Upon leaving the consultancy, Geoffrey wished to build a portfolio career of non-executive, interim and consultancy positions.

“I was recommended to Nicki by a close friend who had found her advice invaluable. I appreciated why, and realised exactly what she meant by Strengths Profiling when she looked at the CV I had spent days preparing and said:

‘This tells me what you have done but nothing about you as a person. It could say more about who you are, your character, personality, your approach to people and to your work. It could set out the values you bring to everything you do and give potential employers and partners a very real and memorable picture of you which will influence them far more than a list of what you have achieved.’

“The impact of the version Nicki prepared was immediate. I had a much greater response rate, found the ideal business partner and am now acting as an advisor to a leading recruitment consultant. Strengths Profiling really does work.”

David Barford

David Barford, former Chairman and CEO of Mercer Human Resource Consulting Ltd, used Nicki to develop his CV upon leaving the consultancy. A well-known and visionary leader with over 30 years experience delivering change to a broad range of organisations, David wanted to build a portfolio of non-executive appointments.

Successful in his mission, David now chairs P&O Pension Scheme, is deputy chair of BT Pension Scheme, sits on the boards for Hermes Fund Managers Limited and Chemistry Recruitment and is an adjunct professor of Imperial College Business School.

“Nicki walked a fine line, both challenging and supporting me all the way. We had many fierce but fun conversations. She helped me to look at things from new perspectives, and gave me some new ways of talking about myself, and indeed, new things to say.

“As good at spotting gaps and helping me to prepare my case as she was at revealing my patterns for success, she provided me with more than a CV and covering letter. She provided me with a new way of thinking about myself, and presenting myself, which I know have helped me to build my portfolio.”

Natalie Ayres

Natalie Ayres, a former member of Microsoft UK’s main board and a key influencer in the European IT sector, used Nicki to develop her profile and CV upon leaving fulltime employment. Her goal was to build a portfolio career of non-executive directorships that enabled her to enjoy more time with her family while continuing to make a difference helping fast growth businesses.

“I hate talking about myself, yet Nicki made me feel super relaxed when she interviewed me. She made great use of open, leading and challenging questions to really understand who I was and what drives me. Using my answers and converting them back to questions and statements to check things had been interpreted and captured in the right way, she soon got to my essence. Using the English language in a creative yet unpretentious way she put a fantastic spin on some very ordinary skills, finding multiple USPs without making me sound corny or ego-centric.

“Nicki is very focused, highly creative, has a great work rate and output and never misses a deadline. She is a tremendous listener with a talent for paraphrasing what you tell her without the use of bullshit. She says it how it is and is not afraid to challenge or be challenged.

“What results did I get? An improved understanding of what it is that I can offer that is unique; a great “elevator” pitch about myself and a CV with a difference which includes a friendly synopsis to help me to present myself as an individual, using my career as the reference points. Sounds quirky, I know, but it works. I now operate as a floating CEO, chairperson and non-executive director for a growing portfolio of businesses AND I am enjoying spending more time with my family. I have no doubt that the work I did with Nicki and the profile she provided me with have helped to open these doors.”

Simon Bennett

“Having spent 10 years as a product manager, I was seeking senior product management roles in high tech software organisations. Although I had experienced many areas of product management and gained a deep understanding of the software industry, my CV didn’t fully reflect how I felt about my capability – I was underselling myself and felt uneasy about how to address this.

“I got in touch with Nicki, expecting a read through of my CV followed by tweaks and improvements. What I actually got was something much more lasting. We discussed my aspirations and experiences in an informal manner, face to face, on reflection this could have been in a pub it felt so non intrusive.

“Nicki made it very easy to delve into some of the challenges I had dealt with and my achievements in a way which allowed us to understand how they could relate to my intended career path. The result was a direct, positive and clear CV, coupled with an improved sense of my own profile and the momentum to take myself to market.

“The results have been very tangible, where I have applied for new roles my new CV has a 100% record of opening the door to interview.”
